We are always interested in hearing from time served skilled bakery & catering equipment engineers throughout the UK.
JULY 2008 UPDATE: We are currently recruiting Breakdown Engineers in the South West of England.
Overview of Role:
Our breakdown engineers are required to diagnose faults & conduct repairs on bakery & catering equipment for our supermarket customers. Electrical & mechanical experience required.
Experience in bakery/catering equipment would be preferable, but is not essential as training will be given. We also seek gas certified engineers with the Comcat 5 qualification. Engineers are provided with a company vehicle and uniform. Our engineers work from home & periodically visit our Service Centre in Bury, Greater Manchester to have vehicles re-stocked & assess all training needs.
Our Control Centre receives over 250 calls per day, which are all electronically submitted from the service centre to the engineers handheld PDA devices. All vans are fitted with vehicle tracking software so we can easily locate the position of the closest engineer to the job.
Salary:
Engineers are paid on average circa £30,000 (negotiable on experience) (overtime work available).
Duties:
• To undertake diagnostic/repair and preventative maintenance tasks on bakery/catering equipment
• To respond to instructions in a timely manner to meet SLA requirements
• To follow working practices as directed
• To attend Millers customer sites on a regional/national basis
• To provide weekend cover and out of hours service on a rota basis
• To communicate on a regular basis with the Call Centre providing updates on work tasks
• To comply with company Health and Safety rules and notifying your line manager of any concerns
• To carry out any adhoc duties as requested
Essential Attributes/Competencies:
• Formal electrical/mechanical qualifications or relevant experience on bakery/catering equipment
• The ability to work unsupervised, using own initiative
• The ability to produce detailed worksheets in accordance with company procedure
• Flexible approach to all work instructions given
• To conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times and to be an ambassador for the Company
• The ability to communicate with our call centre staff, line management and customers on a daily basis
• To achieve Company performance targets
• To have good organisational skills

• Corgi/gas qualifications
