Bury based maintenance provider, Miller’s Vanguard this week responded to an appeal put out by Key 103's breakfast show 'Toolan in the Morning' for donations of toys for Fairfield Hospital in Bury.
On last Monday's breakfast show Mike Toolan and Chelsea received a text message from a nurse at Fairfield Hospital who'd had to incinerate all the toys off the kids ward because of a severe water leak. This meant the children had no toys to play with during their often traumatic stay in Hospital. Chelsea said "We couldn't just sit back and not help the hospital out, those poor children are having a bad enough time as it is!"
There were a number of local firms who donated toys to the hospital and then Millers Vanguard came to the rescue donating £2000 to buy toys with. Mike and Chelsea then got Woolworths involved, agreeing to let them spend the £2000 with a mad trolley dash.

The pair tore up the aisles this week on Monday morning and bagged trolley after trolley of toys, with the store giving an additional 20% discount to make the cash go even further.
Alex Ramsay, Marketing Manager at Millers Vanguard said, "We are delighted to help Fairfield Hospital as so many of our 250 staff and their children were born in the hospital, which is situated just 2 minutes up the road from our offices. We are a company who cares about it's people and the local community, so we had no reservations in helping bring happiness to the children attending this hospital."
Ann-Marie Smith, divisional nurse manager for children's, said: "On behalf of the staff and patients from the unit I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who's donated, especially Millers Vanguard, Key 103 and Woolworths.
"It's been a fantastic achievement to arrange all this in such a short space of time and it will make a massive difference to children of all ages.
"Coming into hospital can be a daunting experience for anyone, especially children. The new toys and equipment we've been able to buy will help children through what can be a difficult time."
