MILLER'S VANGUARD RAISES £2000 FOR HELP FOR HEROES

Bury based, maintenance provider for Bakery and Catering Equipment; Miller’s Vanguard, has boosted local chap Ray Porter's 'Help for Heroes' fundraising by £2000.

Having served for 5 years in the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers and on turning 40 this year, former Bury soldier Ray, set himself the challenge of completing 12 marathons in 12 months. Ray, a partner in Bury's Harvey's Taxis, has just completed his final marathon in Jersey, but not before completing 11 others around the UK and also in Barcelona and Rotterdam; in a combined time of less than 48 hours.

Mo Williams, Operations Manager at Miller's Vanguard and an ex-soldier himself, met Ray by chance. They got talking and Mo decided that the funds raised at a corporate event last year should go to the same cause.

Miller's Vanguard wish Ray all the best for his next challenge which is a gruelling 157 mile marathon across the Sahara Desert in 2010. Good luck in training Ray!
